The lecture will discuss the “affordable” jewelry starting at the late 18th Century, through the 19th Century, and especially in the 20th Century, also referred to as the ‘Golden Age’ of these pieces of jewelry. Imitation gemstones, metals and man made materials of these periods will be discussed, in comparison to the “real” ones used in fine jewelry, while mentioning some of the leading designers of those times. The lecture is digitally illustrated, and includes real pieces of jewelry for demonstration.
